Glebe Chapel is led by a team of Elders and supported by Ministry team leaders. Our team of Elders serve the church by leading the vision and values and providing pastoral care for the church and the wider community when needed. If you have any questions about Glebe Chapel, faith or anything else please feel free to contact them.
After a good many years in Japan, we ended up settling in Newent where we became involved in Glebe Chapel. I was asked to join the leadership team and became an elder. After another spell in Japan, followed by 5 years in Chippenham, we are now back in Newent. We have five children and seven grandchildren. I enjoy bird and insect photography, sports and the outdoors.
Ian has been privileged to live and work on a dairy farm, enjoying and experiencing God’s creation. Glebe has been part of his life since as a child, he accepted Jesus as Saviour. At 18 he responded to God’s call to be involved in work with children and young people. During this time Ian met and married Ju (who also was a youth leader) and later felt God prompting him to become involved in Glebe’s leadership team where he is presently serving the Lord as an elder.
Pete has lived in Newent since 1987 and worshipped at Glebe Chapel with his late wife Diana until 1994. After spending a number of years with other churches in the local area, He returned “home” to Glebe Chapel in 2017.
Having grown up in Tewkesbury with no church background, Pete came to faith in Jesus Christ at “Mission England” in 1984, a Billy Graham Rally in Ashton Gate Football Stadium Bristol.
Pete works part-time locally in printing and has two sons: Luke living and working with “The Smiles Foundation” in Romania and Matt currently living at home and engaged to Emily. Matt works in the aerospace industry in Staverton. Pete serves God on the Leadership Team as an Elder.
I grew up on the outskirts of Newent and, bar a few years at University, have been here my whole life! I work in the NHS in Gloucester and when not doing that can be found playing badminton, running (albeit not very quickly or well) or more than likely binge-watching a TV series!! I learnt the piano from a young age and enjoy creatively putting songs together either for a Sunday service or just to sing on my own in my room!
I moved to the area in 1986 and have been attending Glebe Chapel ever since. I have two children, Leah who is soon to be married and Nathaniel who is 11. I work at the local secondary school as the Clerk to Governors and also work part time as the Administrator for Glebe Chapel & NCC.
Originally from the Hampshire/Dorset border, Jan has lived in the Newent area since 1987. He is married to Lindy and they have 2 ‘grown-up’ married children, Luke and Rosie. After university, Jan taught chemistry in a number of schools before moving into school leadership. He has worked in the UK and overseas and currently juggles a number of education and charity consultancy roles including work that oversees the development at the Newent Community Centre. A Christian for 20 years, Jan enjoys sporting and outdoor activities and, when time allows, music, art and theatre too.
My working life has been in property and management consultancy. I'm married to Victoria and we moved to Taynton 5 years ago and began attending Glebe Chapel, which we found to be a warm and friendly fellowship. When not involved with church finances or the Community Centre project I enjoy DIY, photography and tinkering with old cars.
